Revs. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Lillie Buchanan Hughes and the wife of Till Gouge who died in 2005. Eugene Gene Shepherd, 78, of the Swiss Community, beloved husband for 22 years with his wife, Joan, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at his home. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Marie Blankenship; and, a brother: Jack Riddle. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Wednesday in Morning Star Baptist Church.
